European freight services may benefit from new software that enables drivers to see the live traffic information of 18 countries in the continent. New technology has been launched by TomTom in the form of an online map, detailing up-to-the-minute incidents that have disrupted the movement of vehicles in nations like Germany, France and Italy, as well as in the UK. TomTom traffic director Ralf-Peter Schafer suggested freight companies would not find a "more accurate or reliable source" of such information in any other satellite navigation product. "The live traffic map is the perfect starting point for anyone planning a journey or who needs the most up-to-date view of the traffic on the road," he added.
